Design Forward, Performance Driven: FORM Awarded Prestigious International Design Awards
For the team here at FORM, design is in our DNA. It is inextricably linked to performance and intrinsic to every decision we made in developing our smart swim goggles and the experience they deliver to swimmers.
Over the past three years, ex-competitive swimmer, IRONMAN Triathlete, and FORM founder and CEO Dan Eisenhardt, working alongside his design and engineering teams took on the challenge to create a ground-breaking product that would not only meet the exacting needs of the sport’s most demanding athletes but also be intuitive enough for recreational swimmers.
Unlike regular swim goggles, the FORM goggles incorporate an augmented-reality display, see-through waveguide optics, and an onboard computer into a robust, sleek, hydrodynamic form factor. They deliver an experience that displays the real-time metrics a swimmer needs to train smarter while fitting and feeling like normal goggles — comfortable and secure.
In August 2019, we launched the first generation of our premium smart swimming goggles that deliver performance metrics in real-time — metrics like split times, distance, stroke rate, pace per 100, and calories — all displayed directly through on our patented freeform waveguide optics. While high-grade materials alongside a choice of seven nose bridge sizes, ensure every swimmer gets a tailored, comfortable fit as well as access to vital data.
This seamless integration of design and engineering has not gone unnoticed. FORM is proud to announce that our goggles have won two prestigious international design awards. Firstly, the 2020 Red Dot Award for Product Design — chosen from 6,500 product submissions by an international jury comprised of experts in various fields, our smart goggles were recognized for outstanding innovation, industry-leading design quality and the unique user experience they deliver.
“We’re incredibly excited that Red Dot has acknowledged our best-in-class design through this esteemed award,” said Dan Eisenhardt, Founder and CEO of FORM. “Our mission as a company is to break down the barriers between what swimming is and what it could be. Designing a pair of goggles that display metrics in real-time without compromising on premium materials, excellent fit and durability, is an enormous piece of that puzzle.”
Subsequently, the renowned iF Design Competition anointed us their 2020 iF World Design Guide Product Design winner in the Sports/Outdoor/Bicycle category. First awarded in 1953, the iF Design Award is the oldest independent design seal in the world. It is a symbol of outstanding design achievements and focuses on the innovative power of design.
The iF jury cited the superiority of FORM Smart Swim Goggles in the field of wearable tech noting how our product successfully addresses many of the pain points associated with other wearables — like usability and accessibility to data — to truly transform how swimmers and triathletes train.
This recognition is deeply appreciated but, more importantly, it reassures our engineers and design team that their blood, sweat, and tears were worth it. FORM’s years of research and design have culminated in a consumer product that delivers optimal form and function that others, too, believe in.
